Livestream Event For Chicago Non Profit

Sue and Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge in Hennepin
Chicago-based Non Profit, The Wetlands Initiative, contacted Delack Media Group with a unique challenge. In conjunction with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service & the Lt. Governor of Illinois’ office, they planned to make a very historic announcement about an area of land in Hennepin, IL known as the Sue & Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge.

The 2,700 acre area was being designated as a “Ramsar Site”, which is one of only 34 in the U.S. These sites are known internationally as wetlands of international importance under the Ramsar Convention.

In addition to the live announcement at the Hennepin, IL site, a similar announcement was being made at the Dickson Mounds Museum. The plan was to have both sites presenting speakers and simulcasting those speeches via our internet feed. We displayed live video from some of the Dickson Mounds Museum speakers and displayed it on a 60″ LCD screen for those attending the Hennepin, IL event to see.

Part of the challenge with this webcast was the remote nature of the event.

The site had no electrical power (we brought in a generator for power) and it also had very limited cellular coverage. We spent many hours of pre-production on the phone planning for this webcast, calling local cellular providers who serviced the remote area. Several weeks before the actual event, we did a site survey and determined the best wireless cellular provider for the event by testing various services.

After the webcast, we also edited portions of the presentation and delivered video files to the local television news stations for inclusion in their evening newscasts.

Aardvark Web Works | Animated Video

From the moment I met with Marlene, the President of Barrington-based Aardvark Web Works, I knew that we’d be able to create a video that creatively explained her business to potential customers. Marlene is very creative and full of energy. So, I wanted to produce a video that matched her personality and the energy that fills the Aardvark Web Works’ office. While sitting in Marlene’s office, she showed me a drawing of an aardvark on the wall. That’s when I immediately knew the concept for her video.
My idea was to create a character animated video, which would be narrated by an aardvark. The aardvark would introduce viewers to a small business owner who had an outdated website. I liked the idea of using the aardvark as the “team leader” of aardvark web works. So, the idea was that he recruited a bunch of his friends and created Aardvark Web Works, a full-service web design company.

After scripting, the next step was to create a storyboard of the figures. Here’s a screen capture of one of the scenes:

After approval of the storyboard, we added motion signals to each frame:

From there, we added color and shading to the characters. Here are a few concepts we created:

After that, we worked with a professional voiceover, added a music track, and added sound effects to the whole video. Andy the aardvark was born and Sandy the small business owner now has an updated website! motion graphics explainer video barrington illinois

UPDATE: Marlene also gave a presentation in Barrington, Illinois about web trends and spoke to the group about the importance of web video. We captured a portion of her speech on an iPhone. In her own words, Marlene describes how big of an impact her new video has on her business:

Christina Currie Events | Brand Story

Naturally, an event planner’s work is done behind-the-scenes. There are many meetings, coordinating schedules, and orchestrating vendors at the event. Christina Currie contacted us, needing a video to show potential clients what her company, Christina Currie Events can do for them. So, she hired us to create a brand story. Through this video, we give viewers a behind-the-scenes look into Christina Currie Events, what it takes to put together an event, and the client experience. We combined photos from past events with DSLR video of Currie preparing for a graduation party in South Barrington, Illinois. In addition to our 5d Mark II DSLR, we also used a Go Pro timelapse camera, jib, and Glidecam. The footage was combined, colored, and added with music and two logo animations.
