American Diabetes Association // Father of the Year

chicago nonprofit video production

Every nonprofit has a story to tell. The American Diabetes Association is a national nonprofit organization that works to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

For this video production, we were hired to produce profile videos for each of the four recipients of the organization’s prestigious Father of the Year Awards. The series of four videos spoke about the honoree’s accomplishments, their families, their life as a father, and connection to the nonprofit organization. We filmed the videos in Whitefish Bay, WI, Naperville, and Chicago. Each of the videos represented each of the honorees and their lives. The videos were played to a live audience at the organization’s annual event in Chicago.

Children’s Advocacy Center // Fundraising Video

The Children’s Advocacy Center of North & Northwest Cook County provides resources that empower and heal abused children. They also provide resources to help prevent abuse and violence against children.

The nonprofit organization is based in Hoffman Estates with satellite offices in Evanston, Northbrook, and Streamwood. Through forensic interviews conducted in cooperation with local law enforcement authorities, children are able to share their stories of abuse one time in a safe place. The interviews are recorded for investigation and legal purposes. About 400 children are interviewed each year at the The Children’s Advocacy Center. Before this nonprofit organization was founded, children would often have to tell their story of abuse several times in less than ideal settings.

For this video production, the nonprofit wanted to raise money for its aging video recording system. Over the course of one day, we filmed several interviews and b-roll. In this video, we not only wanted to show viewers what the video recording system looked like but also why the system needed to be replaced. So, we used some video footage captured from the system and included it in the video to show the poor audio and video quality they currently get from the system.

After our video was played at the event, the nonprofit raised over $25,000, which exceeded their goal!

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago // Dream

Chicago nonprofit organizations are always looking for creative ways to showcase how their services affect people’s lives in video productions. These videos can be viewed on social media, a nonprofit organization’s website, at a fundraising event…the possibilities are endless!

For it’s upcoming Chicago nonprofit fundraising event, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago’s Women’s Board wanted to feature someone who had gone through the Chicago nonprofit‘s programs and was working in their dream job.

We produced a video story about Mercedes. Her parents were Mexican immigrants who moved to one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods. The streets were riddled with violence and gangs. Her brother was shot at. The list goes on. Mercedes found out about the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, a nonprofit organization in her neighborhood.

We filmed on two days with a Sony A7Sii, which allowed us to film in a picture profile that allowed for maximum post production color grading. Our crew also included a field audio operator and Grip. On the first day of filming, we captured the soundbites with our subject as well as various b-roll shots around the club. On the second day of filming, we followed our subject around while working at the Chicago Fire Department. Post production services included editing, music licensing, color grading, and sound mixing.

The film was delivered to the client digitally to be shown at the nonprofit‘s fundraising event. After this video was shown at the event, over $1.4 million was raised! We also delivered separate versions for social media.
