The Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago is a Non profit organization with 19 Clubs throughout the city of Chicago. The clubs inspire our city’s youth to develop character, leadership, and a willingness to serve their Clubs and community. Every year, the individual Clubs nominate one exemplary member to compete for the title of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago’s Youth of the Year.

We produced two videos related to this event. The first video we produced showed how the candidates prepared for competition. That video was shown at the event. The second video (shown above) is a recap of the Youth of the Year Award Event, which took place at Chicago’s Navy Pier.

We had two of our DSLR video cameras at the event to capture speeches and various b-roll. The finished produced piece included soundbites from many of the candidates, board members, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Post production services included b-roll drops of the event video footage to local Chicago television news stations and distribution of professionally printed DVDs with custom motion DVD menus to the organization’s donors. Many of the DVDs included customized video greetings from the candidates to specific donors.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago

It’s been an amazing journey for nine members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. With 19 Clubs throughout the city of Chicago, the nonprofit organization inspires our city’s youth to develop character, leadership, and a willingness to serve their Clubs and community. Every year, the individual Clubs nominate one exemplary member to compete for the title of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago’s Youth of the Year.

The Youth of the Year Award is the organization’s highest local honor; rewarding leadership, service and academic standing. The competition gives us a rare glimpse into the lives of Chicago’s youth positively affected by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, and provides an opportunity to celebrate the success of its members, the efforts of its staff and volunteers, and the powerful impact of its programs.

The Youth of the Year Award competition includes several steps along the way, culminating in a public speech, which was held at a Navy Pier event. Those in attendance included Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The purpose of the video was to show attendees what the nominees face in their individual neighborhoods, what they did to prepare for the speech, and how the Clubs impact their lives. We filmed at four of the organization’s Clubs, filmed b-roll of various preparations for the competition, and conducted eleven interviews. Our services also included a local TV news station b-roll drop for local newscasts.

When the video played at the Navy Pier event to over 900 people, it received a huge round of applause (and even some tears). Bethany Methodist Communities is a non profit organization in Chicago that provides independent/assisted living through four communities, comprehensive healthcare services through Methodist Hospital of Chicago, and licensed homecare services.
This marks the third year we’ve worked with Bethany Methodist Communities on their Good Samaritan Fundraiser. The purpose of the fundraising event is to raise funds for healthcare costs that are not otherwise paid for by traditional insurance policies.

Bethany Methodist Communities has an open door policy and takes care of patients, regardless of their financial situation. The organization’s mission and message fit well with our style of emotional, visual storytelling. We worked with their team to create a series of videos, which were shown during their fundraising event at the Holiday Inn Skokie. Delack Media Group also provided AV rental of two large rear screen projectors/screens, complete audio support for the show, technicians, and a live show producer.
