Danielle + Patrick // The Shores of Turtle Creek
This wedding video from The Shores of Turtle Creek in Spring Grove, Illinois is a nature lovers wedding! 32 acres of wooded land with water flowing all over gave us a stunning backdrop for beautiful imagery. I always have loved the outdoors. So, when Danielle contacted us about filming her wedding here, I couldn’t wait to film it!
Danielle and Patrick went to the same school together since Kindergarten, but didn’t start dating until after High School. Guests even joked at the wedding that they were like Barbie and Ken. Pat proposed to Danielle on Christmas morning of 2011. That’s when she opened up a box of her favorite cupcakes from a Chicago bakery, which read, “Danielle, will you marry me?” Pat even joked during his vows that he wouldn’t forget Danielle’s favorite cupcake order…6 red velvet, 3 vanilla, and 3 salted carmel. So, it’s no wonder that cupcakes had to be included in their wedding reception!
The weather forecast for the morning of their outdoor wedding included thunderstorms. So, they decided to move the wedding ceremony indoors. It did rain on the morning of their wedding, but we were still able to walk around the grounds and get some beautiful shots. With their wedding video trailer, I wanted to set a tone for the viewer and take them into the beautiful nature that was there…the flowing creek…the birds…the frogs. Even at night, this venue has a peaceful feel about it.
A quick note about one of the final night shots in the trailer. I saw a photo online of the patio at the venue, which hovered over the water. I thought it would be neat to film Danielle and Patrick outside. It isn’t an easy task to light a completely dark outdoor setting. We strung several hundred feet of electrical extension cords and set-up a few lights in the forest, which I knew Pat would appreciate because he’s a lineman for an electrical company. What became of all that hard work is a beautiful shot of Danielle and Patrick kissing on the patio with the creek below them. Check out the trailer and see what you think!
