Puni + Narayan // Danada House + Westin Itasca

Every Hindu wedding we film is so interesting and unique because regional traditions are infused into the ceremonies. Puni and Narayan’s wedding had influences from the Telugu region of India, which is in the South/South Central part of the country. Telugu is one of the six classical languages of India.
Three years ago, Narayan and Puni met. They were both just starting their residency. Narayan was holding a party at his apartment to meet the new interns. Puni also attended with one of her bridesmaids. As Narayan tells the story, he was trying the whole night to get in a few words with Puni.
Narayan found out that Puni was headed to a Chicago night club the next evening. Initially, Narayan wasn’t too excited about that because dancing wasn’t one of his strongest traits but he gathered a few friends and some courage to show up at the club that night. However, much to Narayan’s dismay, Puni never showed. She stood him up. As he describes it, that’s the night he decided he was going to marry “that girl”.
Puni and Narayan’s wedding ceremonies kicked off with the Mehndi and Sangeet at Danada House in Wheaton, Illinois. That night, storms rolled in, which we were able to capture some pretty cool outdoor timelapse footage of and include in their wedding video trailer. Their beautiful ceremony and reception was held at the Westin Itasca.
