12 Jun Kate + Matt // St. James Chapel + Chicago Union Station

There are many parts about this wedding that might take your breath away. For starters, Kate, her family, and her bridal party prepared for the big day on the 25th floor of the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago. Their room overlooked the Chicago River and the beautiful view of Chicago’s skyline. After Kate was ready, a beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Wraith seDanca from Elegant Motoring was waiting with a chauffeur, holding open the door for Kate and her father. Matt choked back some tears while Kate was led down the aisle at St. James Chapel in Chicago. The wedding party continued in a beautiful landscape of colors designed by Kehoe Designs at Chicago Union Station – The Great Hall. There’s something about the wedding couple walking down that grande staircase that is a great visual for us. Guests danced the night away with a variety of music from Rendezvous Music and ate at one of the most unique dessert bars (liquid nitrogen ice cream) I’ve ever seen from Nitro Dessert Station. All of this was coordinated by the amazing Five Grain Events team. This was the first time I worked with Peter Wynn Thompson and enjoyed every minute of this day working with him. Kate and Matt, I hope you enjoy this trailer as a wonderful memory of your beautiful day.

Chicago Fourth Presbyterian Wedding
Bride waits for wedding at Fourth Presbyterian Church Chicago, Illinois

Deli and Fei saw our wedding cinematography work online and immediately fell in love. Deli lived in Canada while Fei lived in Chicago. Their wedding ceremony was at The Fourth Presbyterian Church in downtown Chicago, Illinois. Fei loves architecture and the Chicago skyline. So, it was only fitting that their wedding reception was held on the Gypsy Spirit Yacht, which took us through Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.

We were also able to stop at many Chicago landmarks for a wedding photo session: the Chicago Cultural Center, Millennium Park (with Cloud Gate; where the two met), Michigan Avenue, and the South garden at the Art Institute of Chicago.

One of the interesting challenges to creating this wedding trailer was that both English and Chinese speakers would have to appreciate the trailer’s storyline and message. The couple will have another wedding reception in China, where this wedding trailer will be shown. So, we made sure to incorporate some English and Chinese in the trailer, blended with a musical score about oceans. The perfect fit!

Ceremony: The Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago
Reception: Free Spirit Cruises
