10 Jul Christine + Brett // Holy Family Church + Intercontinental OHare

Christine and Brett are art teachers. It’s no wonder why they found our website online and instantly fell in love with our style of wedding cinematography. Christine combed through our wedding blog and found inspiration for their day, including their ceremony location, the beautiful Holy Family Church in Chicago.

In this wedding video trailer, you’ll see several Filipino wedding traditions. As described in Christine and Brett’s wedding booklet, the traditions are as follows:
Sponsors-Filipino tradition calls for sponsors, referred to as Ninongs and Ninangs, to be chosen as a source of encouragement and guidance throughout the lives of the married couple. The is similar to godparents who are chosen to serve as a role model for the newly baptized individual.

Veil-The veil symbolizes the uniting of two families. It is a garment that represents the mantle of love and protection that God bestows on the couple as they enter into the new phase of their life with God. The veil is placed upon the bride’s head to signify that she is the heart of the family and upon the groom’s shoulders to signify his responsibility to care for her and their family.

Cord-The cord symbolizes the infinity of the bond of marriage, a union that lasts a lifetime. The cord is placed around the bride and groom in the form of a figure eight (infinity) to remind the couple that life is a journey where the couple walk side-by-side, or the bond will be broken.

Coins-(not shown in this trailer) The coins are a sign of prosperity and symbolize the bride and groom’s dedication to each other’s welfare and to that of their future family. Held together by the bride and groom, these coins symbolize the humble acceptance for the blessings that God bestows upon them.
