Indian Hindu Wedding Baraat in Chicago

12 Sep Roshni + Chad // 2 Days at the Westin Chicago Northwest Itasca

Hindu Weddings Traditions Unveiled DVD Banner Ad
An Indian wedding is full of so much color, fanfare, and smiling faces. It’s easy to get caught up in it all and start breaking out into a Bollywood-style dance. For this trailer, I took a step back and tried to encapsulate the sights and sounds surrounding an Indian wedding. The Westin Chicago Northwest in Itasca has a beautiful lake with a fountain in the back of their property. As I was filming the Garba/Raas event on the eve of Roshni and Chad’s wedding, I looked out from the tent and saw an amazing orange sky. So, I ran outside and captured that shot. The next day at their wedding, I filmed the swans and ducks in that same pond and combined it with a few other nature-type shots to bring the viewer into the setting of this beautiful wedding.

Roshni & Chad actually live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but had always come to Chicago for visits with family. Roshni told me that Chicago is one of the best cities in the country! With a lack of Indian wedding vendors in Iowa, the couple decided to plan their 3-day Hindu wedding in the Chicagoland area. After knowing that fact, I am truly humbled that they asked us to film two days of their wedding events.
