Shuchi + Varun // Chicago Cultural Center

Hindu Weddings Traditions Unveiled DVD Banner Ad

EPIC is probably the best way to describe this Indian wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center on Michigan Avenue. Shuchi & Varun’s day started out with a first look in the Cultural Center’s amazing staircase. The architecture at this building is something to behold. After that, we did a photo session around Millennium Park. When Shuchi and Varun told me about their wedding venue, I started to think about the baraat. How many times do you see a white horse, escorted by banging drums and dancing people, walking down the streets of Chicago? Varun couldn’t help but smile as Chicagoans stopped what they were doing to take pictures of the baraat. As the baraat approached the Cultural Center’s front door, several hundred people crowded the streets and sidewalks, holding their phones up to take a picture.

Shuchi’s entrance was just as epic….14 bridesmaids…all wearing pink sarees led the way for the bride. Their wedding party danced the night away to music by DJ Runi under the beautiful 38′ Tiffany glass dome!

Ann + Andrew // St. James Chapel + Peninsula Hotel

Peninsula Hotel Wedding Video

Ann + Andrew’s wedding at St. James Chapel & Peninsula Hotel in Chicago WAS a storybook wedding! Their fairytale started one afternoon in late August. Ann was having cocktails with her friends at a Chicago bar. Andrew was walking down the street with a group of guys; one of whom also knew Ann. As the guys stopped to talk with the girls, Ann and her friends couldn’t help but notice that the guy in a yellow shirt, seersucker shorts, and boat shoes had a keen eye for Ann.

The two groups departed. One of Ann’s friends grabbed a business card from her purse, ran down the street, and gave Ann’s business card to Andrew. A few days later, Ann received a call from Andrew, which began another chapter of their fairytale!

One note about the edit: this wedding was so elegant and full of beautiful details, I thought it would be nice to slow the pace down a little, which would encourage the viewer to focus on the intricate moments.

There were many great quotes throughout their day, which we’ll have to include in their full-length feature film. Needless to say, we can’t wait to hear about the next chapter in Ann & Andrew’s lives!
